Antioch Friends and Family Barbecue

Dear Friends of Antioch and Alumni,

I am writing to warmly welcome all of you to attend an Antioch sponsored Barbeque at Summerlake Park in Beaverton.  For those of you who’ve attended previously, it is the same park that we had our Barbeque at last year, and it was such a nice location we decided that we would go back!  I will include the address at the end of this letter so those of you who haven’t been will know where to go.  All are welcome to come too, even if you haven’t been involved with the house in the past.  And for those of you who are coming; feel free to invite and forward this email to anyone you think would be interested (i.e. Grandparents, Family Friends, Alumni).

It has been my privilege to witness how God has blessed Antioch House in the short 5 years that I have been living in the house.  The fact that this house even exists is a testament to God’s faithfulness and provision.  I know that personally it has been an honor to serve the Lord along with the other residents of Antioch House.

This is an informal barbeque and its purpose is to reconnect with friends and family of the house, raise awareness about our needs as a house, and to build stronger relationships in order to advance the Kingdom of God at Oregon State University.  We will be serving food at 6:30, but you are welcome to show up at 6 to socialize.  It’s going to be a lot of fun!

I’d like to take a little time and fill you all in on the current financial need that exists in the house.  As many of you know, our house on 13th St. is the first house that Antioch has ever owned.  The loan that we got to pay for the house requires us to refinance by the end of this summer.  In order to do that, we need to put a down payment of around 125,000 dollars.  Currently we have raised 55,000, and have another 70,000 dollars to go!  We are not worried about this because we realize that the Lord is so much bigger than money, but we still are in need of financial help.  We plan on going into more detail at the banquet, but if any of you aren’t able to attend and would like to help us out financially, that would be much appreciated!  If you do want to help us out or would like more information please call me (541-207-6302), next year’s house pastor AJ (503-866-7297) or send checks to:

While we recognize that not everyone involved at Antioch lives in the Portland area, we do want to have the opportunity for a large group of those involved with the house to come be a part of the Antioch Experience.  We also would like to thank all the Moms that came out this Mom’s weekend.  It was a joy and privilege to have many of the mothers in Corvallis with us.  Please be in prayer for this house.  We recognize that Antioch was founded on prayer, and is entirely sustained through Christ’s power.  I hope to see you all on the 21st!

In Him,

John Rathjen
